    Your learning DNA

The way we learn has changed rapidly over the years; advances in technology have both increased the volume of information available and accelerated the pace of education. Nearly 75% of all high school seniors currently take at least one online course and e-learning is rapidly becoming a major component of instructional delivery in all major colleges and universities. Instructors now teach more in less time, while students are prepared to learn faster than ever before.

  • COURSE DEVELOPMENT

XCEL Testing Solutions recognizes the fact that today’s students not only prefer to study and learn online but expect the content and delivery of their e-learning courses to be engaging, relevant, accessible and effective. Our robust preparing people to pass learning platform seamlessly unites a wide array of specific eLearning tools that range from eBooks, interactive learning objects, engaging videos, comprehensive assessments, mobile solutions and more. Each tool is strategically positioned in a comprehensive online course management system designed to improve the online learning processes and proven to enhance student outcomes.

We also recognize that no two students are created equal and each of us has a learning style as unique as our own DNA. As a result, the instructional design of our learning objects and online courses focuses on the research-based practice that everyone learns from a combination of eight different learning styles.

Have you ever tried to learn something fairly simple, yet failed to grasp the key ideas? Have you tried to teach people and found that some were overwhelmed or confused by something quite basic?

  • COURSE DEVELOPMENT

If so, you may have experienced a clash of learning styles: Your learning preferences and those of your instructor or audience may not have been aligned. When this occurs, not only is it frustrating for everyone, the communication process breaks down and learning fails. By understanding these eight key learning styles, you can learn to create an environment in which everyone can learn from you, not just those who use your preferred style.

Each chapter is designed to blend several different types of learning styles. Reviewing each chapter in the following manner is essential in order to maximize your learning experience and fully take advantage of our blended learning platform.

► Review the keywords that will be covered in the Chapter Content.

► Once you have completed the reading passages, review the keywords and make sure to watch the Chapter Summary Video. The subject matter expert will cover the key areas from each chapter. Feel free to pause, rewind, take notes, and watch again.

► Once you feel that you have a solid understanding of the key topics, select your chapter exam. This exam requires a 70% score to pass and move to the next chapter. On average it takes new students 3 attempts before achieving the minimum score. If you do not pass after your 3rd attempt, please go back into the chapter study materials and review the information.

  • STUDY TIPS

► Always take notes. This will help you actively engage in the learning process and grasp the key concepts.

► Make sure to review the keywords and watch the chapter review subject matter expert videos.

► Focus on learning the information presented. DO NOT focus on memorizing the questions on the quizzes and practice exams. This may lead to a false sense of security as these questions in the course will differ from the questions on the state exam.

► After you’ve completed and passed all chapters, move on to the PREP REVIEW Course. The PREP REVIEW Course uses the same outline as your main course, however, the content, and chapter exams are scaled down to ONLY the information on your state exam. The chapters are weighted (questions and content) exactly like the state exam, helping prioritize your studies based upon the most important concepts.

► Also, the PREP REVIEW raises the minimum passing score to 80% on all chapter exams.

  • SERIES 65 INTRODUCTION

► After completing the PREP REVIEW Course, move on to the Exam Simulators.

To make sure you are fully prepared to pass your state exam, all Exam Simulator require an 85% or better to move on.

► Make a reference sheet with questions and concepts that you just don’t seem to grasp. At the end of your study day, email those questions to instructor@xceltesting.com and one of our subject matter experts will follow up with you to make sure you understand the concept inside and out.
