PreLicensing Requirements
Individual Resident Producer Requirements
To
qualify for an Arizona resident insurance producer license, the applicant must
satisfy all the following requirements:

information regarding eligibility and the examination and licensing application
process.

Applicants
must read each lesson before they can proceed to the next lesson.
Exam Requirements
Certificate of Completion
The Arizona
Department of Insurance does not require a PLE certificate of completion.
State Reporting Requirements
The Arizona
Department of Insurance does not require PLE course completions to be reported.
State Licensing Exam
Methods of Registration
Materials Needed to Present at Exam Site
Candidates
must present a valid form of identification. The primary identification must be
government-issued and photo-bearing with a signature. Identification must
have a name that exactly matches the name used to register for the examination.
Testing Centers and Exam Fees
State Exam Passing Score
Candidates
must pass the state licensing exam with a 70% or higher to file a license
application.
Important: You are limited to four attempts to pass an exam for a particular
line of authority (LOA) within a 1-year period. After a fourth
unsuccessful attempt, you must wait one year from the date of the last attempt
to retake the exam.

Candidates
who receive a passing score on the state exam will need to forward the
materials listed below to the Arizona Department of Insurance.
Fingerprinting Requirements
If
you are an Arizona resident, a nonresident relocating to Arizona, or a
nonresident adjuster whose home state does not license adjusters, you must
submit fingerprints with your license application (if you have not done so in
the past year). If you are adding a line of authority to an existing Arizona
insurance license, you are not required to submit fingerprints.
The
Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) and the Federal Bureau of
Investigations (FBI) use the fingerprints to conduct a criminal history
background check. Additional detail on how to satisfy the fingerprint
requirement are provided in the Arizona Insurance
Licensing Candidate Handbook. Fingerprints must be applied to Form FD-258 by a professional
fingerprinting service. Fees charged by fingerprinting service providers
may vary.
Nonresident Producer Requirements

Applicants
who wish to obtain a nonresident insurance license in Arizona will need to
forward the materials listed below to the Arizona Department of Insurance.
Nonresidents
are not required to submit fingerprints or to fulfill the License Eligibility
Requirement. They must be licensed in good standing in their home state.
New Resident Producer Requirements
If
you held a resident insurance license in another state and are relocating to
Arizona, you must submit a license application to the Department within 90 days
after canceling the resident license in your former state to avoid having to
take an Arizona insurance exam. Your application must include a
“clearance letter” issued by the insurance department in your former
state. The letter must specify the following:

State-Required Product Training
Your
state has special training requirements in order for licensed agents to sell
the following products:
Long-Term Care: Before selling, soliciting or negotiating LTC insurance products
in Arizona, a producer must be licensed with the "Accident and Health or
Sickness" line of authority; and have completed eight (8) hours of Arizona
approved initial LTC training.
